GOOSE

Domestication & control

Geese, like women, have historically been domesticated for utility (eggs, meat, feathers). Ecofeminism uses this parallel to critique how both women and animals are reduced to resources.

Stereotype of foolishness. In everyday English, “silly goose” implies someone is naïve or foolish.
Ecofeminism highlights how women are often stereotyped the same way — infantilized, made to seem less rational, and thus easier to dominate.

Community & protection

Geese are also symbols of collective strength and vigilance (they travel in flocks, protect one another, and warn of danger). Ecofeminists sometimes reclaim “goose” as a metaphor for women’s solidarity, resilience, and ecological awareness.

So: within ecofeminism, goose is both a critique of how women are
trivialized and domesticated and a potentially empowering image of
cooperation and resistance.
